Two Correct Forms
Both forms are correct. The examples use one, and you should recognize the other.
How It Works
The classical norm allows some variety inside Languedocien. Each pair below is correct. The course writes the first form in its examples, so you read one form while you learn and still recognize the other.
| Meaning | Course form | Other correct form |
|---|---|---|
| you want | vòles | vòls |
| I know | sabi | sai |
| I am hungry | ai fam | ai talent |
| no longer | pas mai | pas pus |
| done, made | fach | fait |
| to be | èsser | èstre |
The second form is not a mistake. You will see it in print: vòls is even more common there than vòles, and èstre is written next to èsser.
A real mistake looks different. A French form such as le or a Catalan form such as molt is wrong in Occitan, even when the sentence looks close.
