How It Works

Use these patterns to share your surprise or delight.

PatternExampleMeaning
किती + describing wordकिती सुंदर!How beautiful!
काय + describing word + आहेकाय छान आहे!How nice it is!
किती + describing word + noun + आहेकिती गोड बाळ आहे!What a sweet baby!

The describing words छान and सुंदर never change. Words such as गोड also stay the same when they stand before a noun: किती गोड बाळ.

The verb आहे follows the noun: आज किती गर्दी आहे! गर्दी is feminine singular, so the verb is आहे.

किती also works with उशीर, वेळ and similar nouns: किती उशीर झाला! (How late it's got!)

Write an exclamation mark at the end. The word किती also starts a question about amount, which is a separate pattern.
