си
The Reflexive Си
Си means to myself, for myself and so on, and it sits before the verb: Си купив нова кола. (I bought myself a new car.)
How It Works
Where it goes. Си behaves like ми or ти: before the verb, after не, ќе, да, and before an object pronoun: Си го купив. (I bought it for myself.) · Ќе си земам кафе. After a command it follows the verb: Земи си! (Help yourself!) See ми го; ти ја; му ги and заповеден начин + кратка заменка.
1. For oneself. Си купив нови чевли. (I bought myself new shoes.) · Си направи сендвич. (He made himself a sandwich.) Without си the sentence is still correct; it simply does not stress who benefits: Купив нови чевли.
2. One's own body or things. Where English says my hands or her hair, Macedonian often uses си with the article on the noun: Си ја мие косата. (She is washing her hair.) · Си ги изми рацете. (He washed his hands.) Compare се, used when the whole person is the object: Се мие. (She is washing herself.) When a separate object such as косата follows, use си, not се.
3. An easygoing tone. Си can add a sense of just, on my own, the way I like: Си одам дома. (I'm off home now.) · Си седиме и си зборуваме. (We're just sitting and chatting.) · Си пеам. (I'm singing to myself.)
4. Verbs that often take си. си легнува (goes to bed), си оди (leaves, goes home), си заминува (goes away).
Two other uses of си. After family words it means one's own: Ја посети мајка си (see мајка ми; брат ми). It is also the verb form you are: Ти си добар. (see сум во сегашно време). Its place in the sentence tells them apart.

Common Mistakes
Using се when the action affects a separate object.
Се ја мие косата.Си ја мие косата.Се means the whole person is the object. When a separate object such as косата follows, the reflexive must be си.
Putting си after the object pronoun.
Го си купив.Си го купив.Си belongs to the to-someone set, which always comes before го, ја and ги.
