जिसने / जिसे / जिसका
Relative Words with ने, को and का
जो changes its form for the job it does in its own clause: जिसने for a doer with ने, जिसे for को, जिसका for whose.
How It Works
| Job in its clause | One | Plural or respectful |
|---|---|---|
| Doer with ने | जिसने | जिन्होंने |
| With को | जिसे, जिसको | जिन्हें, जिनको |
| Whose | जिसका, जिसकी, जिसके | जिनका, जिनकी, जिनके |
Choose the form from the verb in the जो clause, not from the main clause. In जिसने यह गाना लिखा, वह मेरा दोस्त है, the person wrote something in the past, so the जो clause needs ने. In the main clause he is the plain subject वह.
जिसे and जिसको mean the same; जिसे is more common. Like मुझे and उसे, they also go with phrases such as पसंद होना: जिसे चाय पसंद है, वह ले ले (Whoever likes tea can have some).
जिसका works like उसका: it agrees with the thing owned. In जिसकी किताब खो गई थी, की is feminine because किताब is feminine, whoever the owner is.
Use the जिन- forms for more than one person and for someone you respect: जिन्होंने यह किताब लिखी, वे हमारी शिक्षिका हैं.
