Pronouns with को
मुझे, तुम्हें and आपको are pronouns joined with को, meaning to me, to you and to you politely.
How It Works
When मैं, तू or तुम is followed by को, it joins with it into one short word. The longer forms in the last column mean the same and are also correct.
| Pronoun | With को | Longer form |
|---|---|---|
| आप (you, polite) | आपको | — |
You will use these forms in some of the most common sentences in Hindi:
(I like tea).
(What do you need?)
(Are you cold?)
(Please give me water).
In sentences with पसंद and चाहिए, the person in the को form is not the subject. The verb goes with the thing, so you say मुझे चाय पसंद है, never मुझे ...
Other pronouns work the same way: हमें (to us), उसे (to him or her), उन्हें (to them). Those have their own entry.

तुमको is the longer form of तुम्हें and means the same.
Common Mistakes
Putting को after मैं.
मैं and को join into मुझे (or मुझको). Do not keep मैं before को.
