ვცდილობ

Try to

Level 4Sounds Like vtsdilob

ვცდილობ means I try. Say what you try with რომ and the optative.

How It Works

Present: triesFuture: will tryPast: tried
Iვცდილობვეცდებივეცადე
youცდილობეცდებიეცადე
he, sheცდილობსეცდებაეცადა

The future and the past look like a different verb, with ე- in them. They work like becoming verbs, so the subject stays nominative: ნინო ეცადა (Nino tried), with no -მა.

What you try comes after რომ, with its verb in the optative: ვეცდები, რომ ხვალ მოვიდე (I'll try to come tomorrow). Add არ for trying not to: ვეცდები, რომ არ დავაგვიანო (I'll try not to be late).

ვეცდები is also a polite way to promise something without being sure, like I'll do my best.
