ნურავინ/ნურაფერი
Don't ... Anyone
With ნუ (don't), say ნურავინ for no one and ნურაფერი for nothing: ნურავის ეტყვი! (Don't tell anyone!)
How It Works
A request with ნუ (don't) takes no-words that start with ნურ- (nur-), in the way a statement with არ takes no-words with არ-:
| Statement | Request with ნუ |
|---|---|
| არავინ (no one) | ნურავინ |
| არაფერი (nothing) | ნურაფერი |
| არსად (nowhere) | ნურსად |
They change their case like any other word. In ნურავის ეტყვი! (don't tell anyone!), ნურავის is in the dative, because you tell something to someone.
As with ნუ alone, the verb is in the present or the future: ნურაფერს იყიდი (don't buy anything), ნურსად წახვალ (don't go anywhere).
Speech often says ნუ as well, just as არ- words often come with არ: ნურავის ნუ ეტყვი.
A softer request uses არ with the optative, and then the no-word keeps არ-: არავის უთხრა (don't tell anyone). Both ways are correct.
