მათ/მათი
Cases of They
ისინი (they) becomes მათ as an object or feeler, and მათი means their.
How It Works
| Form | Job | Example |
|---|---|---|
| ისინი | subject | ისინი ბათუმში ცხოვრობენ. (They live in Batumi.) |
| მათ | object | მათ ვხედავ. (I see them.) |
| მათ | the ones who feel or have | მათ ზღვა უყვართ. (They love the sea.) |
| მათი | their | მათი სახლი დიდი არის. (Their house is big.) |
When მათ is the one who feels or has, the verb adds -თ: მათ უყვართ, მათ აქვთ, მათ ჰყავთ.
Postpositions go on მათ-: მათთან (at their place), მათთვის (for them), მათზე (about them).
Like მისი, მათი drops its -ი before a dative noun: მათ სახლში (in their house).
