ეტყობა
It Seems
ეტყობა means it seems or evidently: ეტყობა, ნინო სახლში არ არის (it seems Nino isn't home).
How It Works
ეტყობა (et'q'oba) says that you can tell something from what you see.
As a sentence opener, followed by a comma, it means it seems or evidently:
- ეტყობა, ნინო სახლში არ არის. (It seems Nino isn't home.)
- ეტყობა, ღამით წვიმდა. (Evidently it rained in the night.)
As a verb, it means it shows on someone. The person is marked like the one who feels in მიყვარს:
| Form | Meaning |
|---|---|
| მეტყობა | it shows on me |
| გეტყობა | it shows on you |
| ეტყობა | it shows on him or her |
What shows comes in a რომ clause: გეტყობა, რომ დაღლილი ხარ (I can tell you're tired). For he or she, add the person in the dative: ბავშვს ეტყობა, რომ ძალიან უხარია (you can see the child is very happy).
Compare მგონი (I think), which gives your opinion, and მეჩვენება (it seems to me), which gives your impression.
