-დან
From
Add -დან to say from a place or a time.
How It Works
| Noun | With -დან | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| თბილისი | თბილისიდან | from Tbilisi |
| სახლი | სახლიდან | from home |
| სკოლა | სკოლიდან | from school |
| მცხეთა | მცხეთიდან | from Mtskheta |
| მეტრო | მეტროდან | from the metro |
Notice that -დან keeps the -ი that -ში and -ზე drop: თბილისში, but თბილისიდან.
Use -დან to say where you come from: საიდან ხარ? ქუთაისიდან (Where are you from? From Kutaisi).
It also works with time: ორშაბათიდან (from Monday on), დილიდან (since the morning).
With მოდის (comes), -დან shows the starting point: მამა სამსახურიდან მოდის (Dad is coming from work).
From home is სახლიდან: სახლიდან მოვდივარ (I'm coming from home).
