ho (predicatiu)
Predicative Ho with Copular Verbs
Ho represents a clause, a neuter idea or an appropriate predicative complement.
How It Works
Ho sé can refer to the fact that someone has arrived; it does not identify a masculine or feminine object noun. The demonstratives això and allò commonly correspond to ho when used as direct objects. A definite noun instead normally needs el, la, els or les.
When ho replaces a predicate, it refers to the property or classification rather than a gendered individual. És metgessa i ho és per vocació repeats the classification; està cansada i encara ho estarà demà repeats a state. Ho itself remains unchanged despite the feminine adjective or profession. It does not mean that metgessa should be replaced by feminine la in this predicative use.
