ho (oracions i indefinits)
Neuter Ho for Clausal or Unspecific Objects
Ho represents a clause, a neuter idea or an appropriate predicative complement.
How It Works
Ho sé can refer to the fact that someone has arrived; it does not identify a masculine or feminine object noun. The demonstratives això and allò commonly correspond to ho when used as direct objects. A definite noun instead normally needs el, la, els or les.
When the antecedent is an entire statement, ho can preserve it across a sentence boundary: han ajornat la reunió; encara no ho sabia. The pronoun does not agree with reunió, because its referent is the postponement fact rather than the meeting as an object. If the intended antecedent is a specific feminine noun, la is needed instead. This semantic distinction is more reliable than choosing whatever English it suggests.
