I Did, In Writing: -लीं

Level 5Sounds Like likhalīṁ ā kahalīṁ

Many writers use -लीं for "I did", where Ara speech says -नी.

How It Works

In everyday talk, the Ara and Chhapra form of "I did" is -नी: लिखनी, कहनी, सोचनी. In books, essays, news and posts, -लीं is more common: लिखलीं, कहलीं, सोचलीं.

Learn -नी first, and learn to read -लीं. Do not use -लीं and -नी for different people. Both are for हम and for रउआ: -नी in speech, -लीं in writing.
