लेल as a Helper Verb
Compound Verbs with लेल
A stem plus लेल shows an action done for yourself or done completely.
How It Works
Where देल hands the result to someone else, लेल keeps it for the doer. खा लऽ means eat and have done with it. बना लिहली means made for herself.
| Who | Past | Future |
|---|---|---|
| हम | लिहनी | लेब |
| तू | लिहलऽ | लेबऽ |
| ऊ | लिहलस | ली |
| ऊ (a woman) | लिहली | ली |
To a friend, say लऽ: खा लऽ. To an elder, say लीं: तनी बइठ लीं (Please sit for a bit).
The helper is common in daily talk and often makes a sentence sound more natural than the bare verb.
