Possessives Before Postpositions

Level 2Sounds Like hamarē, tumharē a'ura ōkarē

Before a postposition, हमार becomes हमरे, तुम्हार becomes तुम्हरे and ओकर becomes ओकरे.

How It Works

PlainBefore a postposition
हमारहमरे
तुम्हारतुम्हरे
तोहारतोहरे
ओकरओकरे
उनकरउनके

Compare हमार घर अहै (it is my house) with हमरे घर मा (in my house) and हमरे संग (with me). After a noun, the postposition can be मा, पर, से, का, खातिर or संग. With no noun, हमरे goes before words like संग, खातिर and पास, but "to me" is हमका and "from me" is हमसे.

The changed form also comes before पास: हमरे पास. Write the -े ending every time. It is the form speakers say.

एहि अउर ओहि change in the same position, for this and that.
