हमरे पास
Having Something: पास
पास with the owner shows what someone has.
How It Works
This is the usual way to say what someone has. The owner is not the subject. The thing owned is the subject, so the helper follows it.
| Owner | Form |
|---|---|
| I, we | हमरे पास |
| you (तुम) | तुम्हरे पास |
| he, she | ओकरे पास |
| a name | अमित के पास |
One thing takes अहै. Several things take अहैं: ओकरे पास दुइ लरिका अहैं.
For no, put नाहीं before the helper: हमरे पास पैसा नाहीं अहै. The same pattern also says what a person has with them right now, like money or a phone.
Examples (5)
- हमरे पास एक साइकिल अहै।
I have a bicycle.
हमरे पास shows who has it.
- अमित के पास कार अहै।
Amit has a car.
After a name the owner takes के.
- तुम्हरे पास समय अहै का?
Do you have time?
तुम्हरे is तुम्हार before पास.
- ओकरे पास दुइ लरिका अहैं।
She has two children.
Two children is plural, so the helper is अहैं.
- हमरे पास पैसा नाहीं अहै।
I have no money.
नाहीं goes before अहै.
Common Mistakes
The owner keeps the form it has before a noun.
हमार पास साइकिल अहै।हमरे पास साइकिल अहै।Before पास, हमार becomes हमरे.
