पर
On or at: पर
पर comes after a noun and means on or at.
How It Works
पर is the Awadhi word for on and at. It follows its noun.
| Phrase | Meaning |
|---|---|
| छत पर | on the roof |
| मेज पर | on the table |
| दुकान पर | at the shop |
| फोन पर | on the phone |
It also works with a place that belongs to someone: ओकरे फ्लैट पर (at his flat).
Use मा for in a space and पर for on top of it or at it. चाय मा is in the tea, but चाय कै दुकान पर is at the tea shop.
In Gonda and Rae Bareli, you may hear पै for on. That is the same word as the one for but in other places. The lessons use पर for on and पै only for but.
