খা / ধো
Telling a Close Person What to Do
তোৰ মুখখন ধো means “wash your face”. This is the command to a child or a very close friend.
How It Works
| Who | “Wash” | “Eat” |
|---|---|---|
| তই | ধো | খা |
| তুমি | ধোৱাঁ | খোৱাঁ |
| আপুনি | ধোৱক | খাওক |
The nasal mark in ধোৱাঁ belongs to the command. The present for তুমি is ধোৱা, with no mark.
A command to তই can be sharp, so use it only where তই fits.
To tell a very close person not to do something, use the future form with ন-: তালৈ নাযাবি!.
Put the object or a describing word before the stem: শাক-পাচলিখিনি ধো “wash the vegetables”. The word নিজেই “by yourself” also fits: নিজেই ধো “wash yourself”.
Examples (5)
