Feeling Hungry
To say “I am hungry”, Assamese says The person is মোৰ, the feeling is ভোক, and লাগিছে is the verb.
How It Works
The pattern is: person + -ৰ, then the feeling, then লাগে or লাগিছে. The person does not become the subject.
| Feeling | Example |
|---|---|
“Mom, I am hungry.” |
“Bhaskar is tired.” |
“I am still embarrassed.” |
“I am afraid in the dark.” |
To ask, put the person with -ৰ in front and end with a question mark: তোমাৰ ভোক লাগিছে? “Are you hungry?”.
Examples (5)

The same pattern works for লাজ “shame”.

Making the person the subject.
The person takes -ৰ, so “I am hungry” is মোৰ ভোক লাগিছে.
