Future of èsser and aver

Level 4

Èsser and aver do not use their infinitive in the future. They have the stems ser- and aur-.

How It Works

Personèsseraver
ieuseraiaurai
tuseràsauràs
el, elaseràaurà
nosautresseremaurem
vosautresseretzauretz
eles, elasserànauràn

The infinitives never show up in the future: serai, not èsserai, and aurai, not averai.

Aver in the future keeps the same expressions as in the present: Auràs fam (You will be hungry) and Aurem fred (We will be cold).

The grave accent marks the stress on seràs, serà, seràn, auràs, aurà and auràn. Without it, the form is a spelling mistake.

  1. Serai aicí deman.
