-ने बित्तिकै

As Soon as Doing Something

Level 4Sounds Like nē bittikai

-ने बित्तिकै means right after.

How It Works

बित्तिकै means immediately. After a -ने verb it says that the second thing followed at once.

  • म घर पुग्ने बित्तिकै पानी पर्‍यो।
  • ऊ उठ्ने बित्तिकै चिया खोज्छ।
  • हामी बस चढ्ने बित्तिकै बस चल्यो।

The two clauses can have different doers. The first clause gives the signal, and the second clause is the quick result.

The -ने form does not change with person. Write बित्तिकै as its own word. Use -एपछि for the plain after: खाएपछि, and -ने बित्तिकै when it is right away. A negative first verb is not used with this pattern; say what did happen instead.

The pattern is common in stories and instructions, where one quick event leads to another.
