-ने छु / -ने हो

Plans with -ने छु

Level 2Sounds Like nē chu ra -nē hō

-ने छु means I am going to. -ने हो asks when and answers when.

How It Works

For a plan that is already made, Nepali uses -ने and then छ.

DoerPlan
मजाने छु
तिमीजाने छौ
ऊजाने छ (a woman: जाने छे)
उनी, उनीहरूजाने छन् (a woman who is उनी: जाने छिन्)
तपाईंजाने हुनुहुन्छ

When the plan is the answer to a question, Nepali often uses हो instead of छ. तपाईं कहिले जाने हो? asks when you are going. The answer repeats the pattern: म भोलि जाने हो. In speech हो often stays the same for everyone, and careful speech can match it to the person, as in हामी जाने हौँ.

The negative uses छैन or होइन: म आज जाने छैन (I am not going today). The one-word -नेछु is the firm future, common in notices and promises. In everyday talk, -ने छु is a common way to say a plan.

The two parts are usually written apart, and the ending of छ still follows the person. A woman takes the feminine ending: उनी भोलि आउने छिन्.
