-एपछि means one thing happens after another.

How It Works

-एपछि joins an earlier action to a later one. The earlier action comes first in the sentence: खाना खाएपछि म सुत्छु (after eating, I sleep).

Verb-एपछि form
खानुखाएपछि
जानुगएपछि
आउनुआएपछि
गर्नुगरेपछि
पिउनुपिएपछि

The two clauses can have different doers: बस आएपछि हामी चढ्यौँ (after the bus came, we got on).

The tense is only in the main verb, so -एपछि stays the same: हिजो खाएपछि सुतेँ, भोलि खाएपछि सुत्छु.

Write it as one word. This is different from -एर, which only links two actions. -एपछि stresses that the first action was complete before the second began. The opposite is -नुअघि, which means before.

  1. खाना खाएपछि म सुत्छु।

    After eating, I sleep.

    खाएपछि gives the first action.

  2. बस आएपछि हामी चढ्यौँ।

    After the bus came, we got on.

    The two clauses have different doers.

  3. चिया पिएपछि उनी अफिस गइन्।

    After drinking tea, she went to the office.

    The tense is in गइन् only.

  4. काठमाडौं पुगेपछि म आमालाई फोन गर्छु।

    I will phone my mother after I reach Kathmandu.

    -एपछि can point to a later time too.

  5. गृहकार्य गरेपछि तिमी खेल्न सक्छौ।

    You can play after you do your homework.

    The -एपछि clause comes first.

  • Writing पछि as a separate word.

    खाना खाए पछि म सुत्छु।
    खाना खाएपछि म सुत्छु।

    -एपछि is one word.

  • Using -नु before पछि.

    खाना खानुपछि म सुत्छु।
    खाना खाएपछि म सुत्छु।

    Use -एपछि for after doing.
