राम्रो / राम्रा / राम्री

Changing Adjectives

Level 1Sounds Like rāmrō, rāmrā ra rāmrī

Adjectives that end in -ो take the same three endings as मेरो.

How It Works

Adjectives that end in -ो change with the noun they describe.

NounEndingExample
one thing or boy-ोराम्रो केटा
more than one-ाराम्रा केटाहरू
one girl or woman-ीराम्री केटी

The same endings appear in मेरो, मेरा and मेरी. The pattern is called agreement, and it follows the noun the adjective describes.

In writing, the -ी form is for female people and animals, and speech often uses -ो for them too. A house, a book or a road never takes it: राम्रो घर, not राम्री घर. With more than one girl or woman, -ा is common: राम्रा केटीहरू.

The adjective can also come after the noun: यो घर राम्रो छ (this house is nice). Then it still agrees: तपाईंका साथीहरू राम्रा छन्.
