दुवै
Saying Both of Two
दुवै means both: दुवै साथी आए is both friends came.
How It Works
दुवै means both. It points to two things, usually ones that were already clear from the talk: दुवै साथी (both friends), दुवै हात (both hands), दुवै कप (both cups).
You can place it in two spots. Before a noun, it works like a number: दुवै किताब राम्रा छन् means both books are good. After a pronoun, it adds the idea of both of us, both of you or both of them: हामी दुवै, तिमीहरू दुवै, उनीहरू दुवै.
The verb agrees with the plural doer. A noun after दुवै usually stays without हरू, as it does after a number. Some people write the word as दुबै, and this course uses दुवै.
For more than two, use सबै (all). दुवै never means all of three.
