को Meaning Who
Asking Who
को means who.
How It Works
को is the word for who. It asks about people only.
| Question | Meaning |
|---|---|
| उहाँ को हुनुहुन्छ? | Who is that person? (respect) |
| यो को हो? | Who is this? |
| घरमा को छ? | Who is at home? |
| यहाँ को बस्छ? | Who lives here? |
The respect of the verb depends on the person you are asking about: उहाँ को हुनुहुन्छ? is respectful, while ऊ को हो? is plain.
Do not confuse this को with the marker को that means of. The marker is joined to a noun, as in रामको घर. The question word को stands alone. To ask whose, use कसको (Level 2): यो कसको किताब हो?
To ask about several people, say को-को: घरमा को-को छन्? means who are all at home?
