सुरू करणे / सुरू होणे
Verbs Made with करणे and होणे
करणे takes a doer, and होणे says that it happens.
How It Works
| Word | With करणे | With होणे |
|---|---|---|
| सुरू (started) | सुरू करणे: someone starts it | सुरू होणे: it begins |
| बंद (closed) | बंद करणे: someone closes it | बंद होणे: it closes |
| तयार (ready) | तयार करणे: someone makes it ready | तयार होणे: it gets ready |
With करणे, the doer is there, and a third-person doer takes -ने in the past: आईने दार बंद केले. With होणे, no one is named as the doer: दार बंद झाले. होणे can also have a subject that goes through the change: मी तयार झालो (I got ready; a man is speaking).
With words like सुरू, बंद and तयार, the first word does not change. Only करणे or होणे takes the endings: दार बंद केले, दुकान बंद झाले.
The same pair works for many words: जेवण तयार केले (someone made the meal), जेवण तयार झाले (the meal is ready).
More pairs you will use: पूर्ण करणे and पूर्ण होणे (to finish), चालू करणे and चालू होणे (to switch on, to start running).
When you hear a verb you do not know, check the last word. करणे means someone does it, and होणे means it happens.
