-ए देब

Letting Someone Do Something

Level 3Sounds Like ē dēba

The verb with -ए and then देब means "let someone do something".

How It Works

The person who is allowed takes the object form (हमरा, ओकरा, हुनका) or केँ for a noun.

PatternExample
Requestहमरा जाए दिअ।
Request with a nounबउआ केँ खेलए दिअ।
Pastमाय हमरा सिनेमा देखए देलनि।

The -ए form is the same in every sentence: जाए, खेलए, देखए, कहए.

Use दिअ to ask someone to let you. Use दियौ when a plain person receives the permission and दियौन when a respected person does (taught at Level 4).

This is different from -ि देब. Here देब means "let" and the verb has -ए. In -ि देब, देब means "do for someone".

Hindi says "जाने दो". Maithili says जाए दिअ.
