Wanting to Do Something

Level 2Sounds Like ē cāhaba

The -ए form with चाहब says that someone wants to do something.

How It Works

IdeaPatternExample

The to be word agrees with the subject: The past is चाहैत छलहुँ.

Make the -ए form by adding -ए to the stem: जाए, खाए, करए, पढ़ए, सीखए. We write every infinitive this way; books also have करय or करऽ.

Do not mix the two patterns. For wanting to do something, the person is the subject. With a thing, the person takes the हमरा form.
