წავედი/მოვედი
Went and Came
წავედი means I went and მოვედი means I came.
How It Works
Going and coming have their own past forms. Learn them as a set.
| Person | Went | Came |
|---|---|---|
| I | წავედი | მოვედი |
| you | წახვედი | მოხვედი |
| he, she | წავიდა | მოვიდა |
| we | წავედით | მოვედით |
| you (several, or polite) | წახვედით | მოხვედით |
| they | წავიდნენ | მოვიდნენ |
Notice the ხ in the you-forms: მოხვედი (mokhvedi) (you came). The I-form has ვ instead: მოვედი.
წა- means away, and მო- means toward the speaker. Other preverbs give other directions: შევიდა (went in), გავიდა (went out).
Both are becoming verbs, so the subject stays in the nominative: ნინო მოვიდა, never ნინომ მოვიდა.
