მიუხედავად იმისა, რომ
Even Though
მიუხედავად იმისა, რომ means even though, or despite the fact that.
How It Works
| Part | Meaning |
|---|---|
| მიუხედავად | despite |
| იმისა | of that: ის in the genitive, with a long ending |
| რომ ... | the fact itself |
Keep all three parts together: მიუხედავად იმისა, რომ. The clause can come first or second: ლუკა სამსახურში წავიდა, მიუხედავად იმისა, რომ ავად იყო (Luka went to work even though he was ill).
მაინც (still, anyway) in the main clause makes the contrast clear, and it is very common here.
In everyday speech, მაგრამ (but) or თუმცა (although) can say the same thing more simply: წვიმდა, მაგრამ მაინც წავედით.
For a single noun, use -ის მიუხედავად (despite): წვიმის მიუხედავად (despite the rain).
