მაინც
Still and Anyway
მაინც means still or anyway, and also at least.
How It Works
| Meaning | Example |
|---|---|
| anyway, still | წვიმს, მაგრამ მაინც (maints) მივდივართ. (It's raining, but we're going anyway.) |
| at least | ერთხელ მაინც ნახე. (See it at least once.) |
Don't mix it up with ჯერ კიდევ, the still of time: ჯერ კიდევ წვიმს (it's still raining). მაინც is the still of in spite of.
The at least meaning often follows ერთი, ცოტა or a number: ერთი ჭიქა მაინც დალიე (have at least one glass).
In questions, მაინც can show impatience: რა გინდა მაინც? (What do you want, anyway?)
მაინც never changes its form, and it usually comes right before the verb.
