მეშინია
I'm Afraid
მეშინია (meshinia) means I'm afraid, with what you fear in the genitive.
How It Works
მეშინია (meshinia) means I'm afraid. It is a feeling verb, so the person who is afraid is marked at the front:
| Person | Form |
|---|---|
| I | მეშინია |
| you | გეშინია |
| he, she | ეშინია |
| we | გვეშინია |
| they | ეშინიათ |
What you are afraid of takes the genitive -ის, like English of: ძაღლის მეშინია (I'm afraid of the dog), სიბნელის ეშინია (she's afraid of the dark).
To say what you fear will happen, use რომ: მეშინია, რომ დავაგვიანებ (I'm afraid I'll be late).
To comfort someone, say ნუ გეშინია! (don't be afraid!) The past is მეშინოდა (I was afraid).
