ისე ..., რომ
So ... That
ისე ..., რომ means so ... that: the part after რომ tells what happened because of it.
How It Works
ისე (ise) means so. Put it before the word you want to make stronger, then add a comma and რომ for what happened because of it:
- ისე ცხელოდა, რომ ზღვაზე წავედით. (It was so hot that we went to the sea.)
- ფილმი ისე საინტერესო იყო, რომ ორჯერ ვნახე. (The film was so interesting that I watched it twice.)
ისე can stand before an adjective (საინტერესო), an adverb (სწრაფად) or a verb (ცხელოდა). The result after რომ keeps the tense of what really happened.
იმდენად (imdenad) means the same and is a little more formal: ხინკალი იმდენად გემრიელი იყო, რომ ათი ცალი შევჭამე.
With the optative after რომ, the pair tells how to do something so that a result follows: ისე ილაპარაკე, რომ ყველამ გაიგოს (speak so that everyone understands).
Before a noun, use ისეთი (such a): ისეთი ამინდი იყო, რომ სახლში დავრჩით (the weather was such that we stayed home).

Common Mistakes
Using ძალიან for so.
ძალიან ცხელოდა, რომ ზღვაზე წავედით.ისე ცხელოდა, რომ ზღვაზე წავედით.To say it was so hot that we went to the sea, ძალიან does not work: it means very and cannot set up a result after რომ. Put ისე before the word and start the result with რომ.
