laŭ
According to and Along
Laŭ follows a line or follows a rule, a plan or someone's view.
How It Works
| Meaning | Example |
|---|---|
| along a path | iri laŭ la rivero |
| following a rule or plan | laŭ la regulo, laŭ la plano |
| in someone's view | laŭ mi, laŭ Ewa |
After laŭ the noun or pronoun keeps its plain form. Write laŭ mi, laŭ vi, laŭ ŝi, never the forms with -n.
Laŭ mi gives your opinion in a few words and is a short way to say mi opinias. Laŭ la leĝo says which rule you follow. Laŭ can also name a source of news: laŭ la gazeto (according to the newspaper). Every use answers the question "following what?"
