Valencian Standard Comparison
Recognize standard Valencian li-first pronoun clusters and regional use of the simple past.
How It Works
In the Central-type pattern, li plus el becomes l'hi, li plus la becomes la hi, li plus els becomes els hi, and li plus les becomes les hi. The final hi identifies the recipient in these combinations; it need not refer to a place.
Valencian standard keeps li before a definite direct object in li'l, li la, li'ls and li les. That regional choice is independent of whether a particular speaker uses the simple or periphrastic past. Some Valencian areas retain conversational simple forms such as aní; others favor vaig anar. Present the two features as legitimate regional comparisons, without claiming that every Valencian speaker combines exactly the same traits.
