သလို
As if and Just Like
သလိုပဲ at the end means "it seems like": ဒီလူကို မြင်ဖူးသလိုပဲ။ (I feel like I've seen this man before.)
How It Works
သလို compares one action with another. The verb before it takes no ending.
| Use | Example | English |
|---|---|---|
| just like | ကိုယ့်အိမ်မှာ နေသလို နေပါ။ | Make yourself at home. |
| the way | အရင်လုပ်သလို လုပ်မယ်။ | I'll do it the way I did before. |
| seems like | မြင်ဖူးသလိုပဲ။ | I feel like I've seen it. |
| feel a bit | ဖျားချင်သလို ဖြစ်နေတယ်။ | I feel like I'm getting a fever. |
သလို … လည်း adds a second fact: ဂီတာတီးတတ်သလို စန္ဒယားလည်း တီးတတ်တယ် (She can play the guitar, and the piano too).
After a noun, use လို: ကလေးလို (like a child). သလို follows verbs only.
For following someone's words or a plan exactly, တဲ့အတိုင်း fits better: ဆရာပြောတဲ့အတိုင်း (just as the teacher said).
The verb before သလို can be negative: မသိသလို နေတယ် (He acts as if he doesn't know).
