के चलते
Because of
के चलते means because of.
How It Works
के चलते gives the reason behind a result. The noun comes first and the result follows.
| Cause | Phrase |
|---|---|
| बरखा (rain) | बरखा के चलते |
| बेमारी (illness) | बेमारी के चलते |
| भीड़ (crowd) | भीड़ के चलते |
| देर (delay) | देर के चलते |
It is a postposition, so a pronoun takes its oblique form before it. It tells you what caused something, and it can be a good or bad cause.
When the reason is a whole clause with its own verb, put काहे कि before it: मेला ना लागल, काहे कि बरखा होत रहे. एहसे works the other way round and comes before the result: बरखा होत रहे, एहसे मेला ना लागल. Use के बदउलत for a cause you are thankful for.
