Never and Nobody

Add ना to कबो, केहू or कुछ to say never, nobody or nothing.

How It Works

The pattern is: the word, then ना, then the verb.

With बा, use नइखे instead of ना बा: घर में केहू नइखे (Nobody is at home), बटुआ में कुछ नइखे (There is nothing in the purse).

Hindi writers use नहीं. In Bhojpuri the plain ना is enough. Do not add both.

    He never lies.

    कबो ना means never.

  2. घर में केहू नइखे।

    Nobody is at home.

    नइखे is the negative of बा.

  3. हमरा के केहू ना बोलवलस।

    Nobody called me.

    केहू ना means nobody.

  4. रुबीना कुछ ना खइली।

    Rubina ate nothing.

    कुछ ना means nothing.

  5. तू कबो ना सुधरबऽ!

    You will never improve!

    कबो ना works with the future too.

Common Mistakes

  • Using the Hindi word नहीं.

    ऊ कबो झूठ नहीं बोलेला।
    ऊ कबो झूठ ना बोलेला।

    Bhojpuri uses ना.
