যে
That: যে
ৰফিকুলে জানে যে মই তোমাক কল কৰিম “Rafiqul knows that I will call you”.
How It Works
English has one small word, “that”, for this job, and it can often be left out. Assamese can use যে before the words or বুলি after them. Compare:
| With যে | With বুলি |
|---|---|
| মই ভাবিছিলোঁ যে দোকানখন খোলা আছে | মই দোকানখন খোলা আছে বুলি ভাবিছিলোঁ |
| I thought that the shop was open. | I thought that the shop was open. |
The part after যে is a full sentence with its own verb, as in ৰফিকুলে ক’লে যে সি জিকিব নোৱাৰিলে “Rafiqul said that he could not win”. যে also follows the noun কাৰণ: এইটোৱেই কাৰণ যে… “this is the reason that…”.
