ভাল পা is a verb for liking. The person who likes is the subject.

How It Works

PersonFormExample

The subject is the person who likes. The pronouns মই and তুমি take no ending, and a name can take the doer ending, as in ৰিনাই চাহ ভাল পায় “Rina likes tea”. The thing liked stays bare. A person liked takes -ক: মই তোমাক ভাল পাওঁ “I like you”. Said to a person, it can also mean “I love you”.

There is a second way to say “like”, with ভাল লাগে. There the person who likes takes -ৰ and comes first. Do not mix the two. With ভাল পাওঁ the person is মই, and with ভাল লাগে it is মোৰ.

To make it negative, put ন- before পা: মই চাহ ভাল নাপাওঁ “I do not like tea”.

Common Mistakes

  • With ভাল পাওঁ the person who likes is মই, not মোৰ.

The verb ভাল পাওঁ needs the subject মই.
