اگر ... تو
An Open If-Then Condition
Present the result as dependent on the condition.
How It Works
Read the two clauses together. A future result can locate the conditional situation ahead of the speaker’s present.
An instruction can also be conditional: if a situation holds, perform the requested action. The second clause then uses a command or request form.
تو can be omitted in some sentences, but it makes the two-part structure easy to recognize. Contrary-to-fact conditions use other verb combinations and are taught separately.

- اگر وقت ملا تو ہم باغ جائیں گے۔
If we have time, we will go to the garden.
ملا belongs to an open future condition here.
- اگر بارش ہوئی تو ہم اندر بیٹھیں گے۔

ہوئی agrees with feminine بارش.
- اگر دروازہ بند ہے تو آواز دیجیے۔
If the door is closed, call out.
A present condition supports an instruction.
- اگر آپ کل آئیں تو مجھے فون کیجیے۔
