Verb Stem + اٹھنا
A Sudden Onset
Put the reaction in the first stem and inflect اٹھنا.
How It Works
The combination often brings a reaction into focus. A face lighting up or someone suddenly speaking can take اٹھنا without any change in posture.
These examples use unmarked subjects. Compare بلال بول اٹھا and مریم بول اٹھی. The later verb follows the speaker’s gender.
Learn common combinations as phrases. اٹھنا adds a particular shade to suitable verbs; it is not a general way to translate every English “suddenly.”
