Use ได้รับการ + Noun to describe receiving an action in formal writing, such as treatment, approval, or punishment. The pattern focuses on the action received; it does not make the outcome positive.

How It Works

Receiving The Named Action
In these examples, ได้รับ is followed by an action noun beginning with การ: การรักษา names treatment, การสนับสนุน names support, การยกย่อง names praise, and การอนุมัติ names approval.

Read The Whole Phrase
คนไข้ได้รับการรักษาอย่างดี says the patient received good treatment; อย่างดี describes its quality. โครงการนี้ได้รับการสนับสนุนจากรัฐบาล names the government as the source of support with จากรัฐบาล. เขาได้รับการยกย่องว่าเป็นวีรบุรุษ presents the person as a hero. ใบสมัครของคุณได้รับการอนุมัติแล้ว states that the application has been approved, with แล้ว indicating completion.

Outcome And Wording
ได้รับการลงโทษ means receiving punishment. An adverse outcome therefore does not rule out ได้รับการ. For the car-hit comparison, เขาถูกรถชน is the natural wording. Choose the construction that fits the action rather than replacing every ถูก with ได้รับการ.

Compare The Intended Meaning
The treatment exercise keeps การ in ได้รับการรักษา. A formal statement can still describe an unpleasant event. Being ordered to go and being told to go describe different actions, so choose wording that matches what happened.

    ว่าเป็นวีรบุรุษ gives the content of the praise: being a hero. The positive meaning comes from praise in this sentence.

  4. ใบสมัครของคุณได้รับการอนุมัติแล้ว

    Your application has been approved.

    Word by Word: your application | received | approval | already

    แล้ว indicates completion: the application has already been approved.

Common Mistakes

  • Automatically replacing ถูก with ได้รับการ for every event.

    เขาได้รับการชนโดยรถยนต์
    เขาถูกรถชน

    This pattern is not limited to pleasant outcomes: ได้รับการลงโทษ means receiving punishment. For being hit by a car, เขาถูกรถชน is the natural wording. Do not automatically replace ถูก with ได้รับการ; the choice depends on the action and its wording.

    For the treatment phrase in this task, keep การ in ได้รับการรักษา. การรักษา names the treatment received; ได้รับรักษา does not match this construction.
