Compare ทายถูก for a correct guess with จำชื่อเขาผิด for remembering a name incorrectly. The object can intervene before ถูก or ผิด in these examples.

How It Works

1. Complete Displayed Phrases
ทายถูก places ถูก after guessing. ฉันจำชื่อเขาผิด and คุณตอบคำถามถูกไหม put an object before ผิด or ถูก. เขาพูดถูกทุกอย่าง puts ถูก before ทุกอย่าง. These examples do not establish object length as a universal rule for choosing word order.

2. Correctness and Contact
NIU gives a guess described as ถูกหรือผิด and a shooting example with ไม่ถูก for missing the bird. Compare a correct answer with hitting a target. In อย่าทำผิดกฎนะ, ผิดกฎ concerns violating a rule. The examples do not prove that every action has only a binary outcome or that remembering successfully always requires a different verb.

3. Compare Other Expressions
The linked อย่างถูกต้อง expresses correctly in a complete phrase. Compare its construction without assigning a fixed formality or frequency ranking. Compare passive ถูก before an action with ถูก after answering in เขาตอบถูก. Being answered and answering correctly describe different roles.

4. The Buying Exercise
NIU lists ซื้อถูกขายแพง with buying cheaply and selling at a higher price. This exercise requests ซื้อถูกอัน for buying the right one. ซื้อถูก can have a cheap-price reading or another contextual interpretation; it is not universally invalid, and this comparison does not require a classifier after every buying expression.

    คำถาม comes between ตอบ and ถูก, and ไหม asks whether the answer was correct. The past-tense English translation is a selected context, not an obligatory Thai tense marking.

  4. เขาตีลูกถูก

    He hit the ball.

    The selected ถูก reading concerns the strike making contact with the ball. It does not by itself judge every aspect of his technique as correct.

  5. อย่าทำผิดกฎนะ

    Do not break the rules.

    Read ทำผิดกฎ as acting against or violating a rule in this negative command. นะ ends the example, with its interpersonal effect dependent on context and delivery.

  6. เขาพูดถูกทุกอย่าง

    He was right about everything he said.

    The speaker presents everything he said as correct. This is the example speaker's assessment, not a verification of those statements or a length-based rule for every object.

Common Mistakes

  • Using the passive form for the requested answering-correctly statement.

    เขาถูกตอบ
    เขาตอบถูก

    This exercise requests เขาตอบถูก, with him answering correctly. เขาถูกตอบ can describe him being answered in a suitable context, and is not universally ungrammatical; it does not express the requested roles and correctness here.

  • Omitting อัน from the requested right-one buying phrase.

    ซื้อถูก
    ซื้อถูกอัน

    This exercise requests ซื้อถูกอัน for buying the right one. ซื้อถูก can concern buying cheaply, as in NIU's ซื้อถูกขายแพง, or depend on another context. It is not universally wrong; reproduce the complete requested phrase here.
