ทุกครั้งที่

Every Time That

Level 4

ทุกครั้งที่ introduces an every-time clause in these examples. The sentences describe repeated connections, without proving that one event necessarily causes the other.

How It Works

1. Read the recurring connection:
ทุกครั้งที่ฝนตก ฉันก็รู้สึกง่วงนอน says that the speaker feels sleepy every time it rains. The event clause comes first, followed by the speaker and ก็. This is a statement about the repeated occasions described, not independent proof that rain causes sleepiness or that the claim holds for everyone.

2. Read the complete connector:
The displayed ทุกครั้งที่ phrase includes ที่ before its event clause. The first exercise requests this full spelling in ทุกครั้งที่ฝนตก ฉันก็ง่วง. The task does not establish that every shortened spoken form is impossible. The Bangkok example has no explicit subject inside the event clause; the selected English reading understands the speaker from ผม in the following clause. Do not require a separately written subject in every clause.

3. Read the particles in their sentences:
ก็ appears in three retained examples. เขายิ้มให้ฉันทุกครั้งที่เจอกัน places the every-time clause later and contains no ก็. These displayed choices do not establish a frequency ranking, an obligatory particle, or a rule that every later event clause must omit it. เขาก็จะพูดมาก is read here as habitual talking; the written sentence does not guarantee a future event or a result caused by alcohol in every situation.

4. Read the speaker’s claim:
The Bangkok sentence includes ต้อง and the selected translation keeps must. It describes the speaker’s stated recurring practice, not an externally verified requirement. Read ร้านนี้ as this shop where the papaya salad is eaten.

5. Complete the requested tasks:
The first task requests ทุกครั้งที่ before the rain clause. The second requests เขามาสายทุกที as the standalone every-time wording. เขามาสายทุกครั้งที่ leaves ที่ without a following event clause in this task. ทุกครั้ง can also express every time; the requested ทุกที rewrite does not make it the only possible choice.

6. Evidence scope:
The selected NIU entries support lexical every and every-time meanings, with a separate progressive sense for ทุกที in another example. They do not by themselves establish a complete syntax rule for ทุกครั้งที่, obligatory particle placement, register, measured frequency, spoken tone or necessary causation.

Examples (4)

  1. ทุกครั้งที่ฝนตก ฉันก็รู้สึกง่วงนอน

Every time it rains, I feel sleepy.

Word by Word: every time that rain falls, I then feel sleepy

The rain event is followed by the speaker’s stated sleepiness with ก็. This sentence describes the recurring connection without independently verifying a cause.

  2. เขายิ้มให้ฉันทุกครั้งที่เจอกัน

He smiles at me every time we meet.

Word by Word: he smile to me every time that meet each other

The every-time clause follows the smiling statement and has no ก็. เจอกัน conveys meeting each other; the selected translation understands we as the speaker and that person, without a separate written Thai we pronoun.

  3. ทุกครั้งที่ไปกรุงเทพฯ ผมก็ต้องไปกินส้มตำร้านนี้

Every time I go to Bangkok, I must go eat papaya salad at this shop.

Word by Word: every time that go Bangkok, I then must go eat papaya salad shop this

The event clause omits its subject; the selected reading understands the speaker from ผม. ต้อง retains must in the speaker’s stated practice, and ร้านนี้ identifies the shop, not a kind of salad.

  4. ทุกครั้งที่เขาดื่มเหล้า เขาก็จะพูดมาก

Every time he drinks alcohol, he talks a lot.

Word by Word: every time that he drink alcohol, he then will talk much

ก็จะพูดมาก is read as recurring talking in this sentence. The literal will reflects จะ, but the selected full translation does not turn this habitual statement into a guaranteed future prediction.

Common Mistakes

  • Not copying the requested full connector ทุกครั้งที่.

    ทุกครั้งฝนตก ฉันก็ง่วง
    ทุกครั้งที่ฝนตก ฉันก็ง่วง

The task requests ทุกครั้งที่ฝนตก ฉันก็ง่วง with ที่ before the rain clause. ทุกครั้งฝนตก ฉันก็ง่วง leaves out that requested ที่. This comparison does not establish a universal ban on shortened speech.

  • Leaving ที่ without the following event clause in the standalone task.

    เขามาสายทุกครั้งที่
    เขามาสายทุกที

The task requests เขามาสายทุกที for he is late every time, without adding an event clause. เขามาสายทุกครั้งที่ leaves the connector unfinished for that task. ทุกครั้ง can also mean every time; this exercise requests ทุกที rather than declaring it the only possible expression.
