อะไรก็ได้

Anything at All

Level 4

อะไรก็ได้ can mean anything is fine among the choices under discussion. It does not guarantee that the speaker is happy, cooperative, or indifferent.

How It Works

Leave The Choice Open
อะไรก็ได้ can give the reading anything is fine. กินอะไรก็ได้ครับ leaves the food choice open in this example. ซื้ออะไรก็ได้มาให้ฉันหน่อย leaves what to buy unspecified.

Read The Response
In the evening dialogue, อะไรก็ได้ แล้วแต่คุณ leaves the choice to the listener. ไปก็ได้ accepts going as an option in its displayed reading. Willingness, reluctance, and tone come from the conversation; these phrases do not guarantee a feeling.

Find Which Choices Are Included
ใช้อันไหนก็ได้ที่วางอยู่บนโต๊ะ refers to whichever one is on the table. ที่วางอยู่บนโต๊ะ supplies that restriction. An open choice still has a context; it is not permission to use every object everywhere.

Follow The Phrase In The Task
The active card practises กินอะไรก็ได้, with กิน before the choice phrase. It compares that written sequence rather than every possible clause order. Read a negative sentence as a whole instead of inserting ไม่ into this expression and assuming its scope stays the same.

Examples (5)

  1. กินอะไรก็ได้ครับ

    I can eat anything.

Word by Word: eat what also can [polite]

ครับ follows the eating-choice response. It does not itself address the listener as sir or guarantee a cooperative attitude.

  2. ซื้ออะไรก็ได้มาให้ฉันหน่อย

Buy anything at all for me, please.

Word by Word: buy what also can come give me a little

Here, the phrase is used as the object of the verb 'to buy'.

  3. A: เย็นนี้ทำอะไรดี? B: อะไรก็ได้ แล้วแต่คุณ

A: What should we do this evening? B: Anything is fine, it's up to you.

Word by Word: A: evening this do what good? B: what also can, up to you

Shows how the phrase is used as a standalone response in a dialogue.

  4. ใช้อันไหนก็ได้ที่วางอยู่บนโต๊ะ

Use whichever one is lying on the table.

Word by Word: use which-one also can that place stay on table

Demonstrates the 'which one' variation (an nai gor dai) when referring to specific objects.

  5. ไปก็ได้

Going is fine too / I can go.

Word by Word: go also can

ไปก็ได้ accepts going as an option in this reading. A reluctant or willing attitude depends on the conversation.

Common Mistakes

  • For the ordinary phrase “eat anything” practised here, moving the choice phrase before กิน.

    อะไรก็ได้กิน
    กินอะไรก็ได้

The requested phrase is กินอะไรก็ได้, with กิน before its choice object. อะไรก็ได้กิน changes that sequence and may need a different clause structure or context; it is not the displayed verb–object phrase.
