Melhor and mièlhs mean better, and pièger means worse.

With an article, melhor is the best: lo melhor cafè, la melhora cadièra.

Mièlhs is the adverb in the dictionaries, as in anar mièlhs (to be better, to feel better). In print, melhor does the same job more often, so you will see both.

To compare, add que: Parli mièlhs que ièr. Pièger has one form for the masculine and the feminine.

To say prefer, writers use aimar mai: Aimi mai lo pan que lo vin. The dictionaries also list aimar mièlhs.
