यस्तो / त्यस्तो

Like This and Like That

Level 2Sounds Like yastō ra tyastō

यस्तो is like this. त्यस्तो is like that.

How It Works

These words describe a kind of thing. They follow the same pattern as राम्रो.

FormUseExample
यस्तो, त्यस्तोone thingयस्तो घर
यस्ता, त्यस्ताmany thingsयस्ता किताब
यस्ती, त्यस्तीa girl or womanयस्ती केटी

For a way of doing something, use यसरी and त्यसरी: यसरी बनाउनुहोस् (please make it this way). They never change.

You can also use them alone, as in a reply: मलाई त्यस्तो चाहिन्छ (I need something like that).

Do not mix यस्तो with यसको. यस्तो tells what a thing is like. यसको tells that it belongs to this.
