-नुहोला

Polite Requests

Level 2Sounds Like nuhōlā

-नुहोला is softer than -नुहोस्, and it often asks for something later.

How It Works

-नुहोस् is the usual polite command, and it often asks for something now: यहाँ बस्नुहोस्. -नुहोला is softer and often looks ahead: भोलि फोन गर्नुहोला.

FormFeeling
गर्नुहोस्A polite request, often for now.
गर्नुहोलाA softer request, often for later.

The same form is also the -ला future for तपाईं and उहाँ: तपाईं भोलि आउनुहोला can mean you will probably come tomorrow, and उहाँ भोलि आउनुहोला means he will probably come tomorrow. The context tells you whether it is a request or a guess. In a request, the speaker is speaking to तपाईं and asking a favor.

Use it with people you respect: teachers, elders, shopkeepers, guests. To a friend, a plain command is better: भोलि फोन गर.

Add कृपया, please, for extra care: कृपया बिस्तारै बोल्नुहोला. A short request works well in a shop or on the phone.
